Mason Bullfrogs (Competitive swimming ages 8 - 18)
The Mason Bullfrogs is a great opportunity to improve your swimming skills in a fun competitive environment! As a member of the Bullfrogs, you will learn the value of dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship that will prepare you for high school competitive swimming. If you have at least passed Level 4 of the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program or able to swim a full length of the pool, you could be a member of the Bullfrogs! Returning swimmers will join the group they were placed in prior to the end of the last session they attended. If you are interested in joining, but not sure of your skill level, please come to the first practice where you will be tested and placed in a class.
Waverly Piranhas Swim Club
The Waverly Piranhas Swim Club (WPSC) was established in 1964 and is the oldest swim club in the Lansing, Michigan area. All practices are held at the Howard Comstock Pool @ Waverly High School. The only requirement to join the club is to be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) in any stroke without assistance. Other sports promote swimming for endurance training, and coaches encourage swimming to keep their athletes conditioned during the off season for soccer, football, track, cross-country, baseball, and more. Waverly Piranhas is a year-round club divided into 4 sessions: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. A swimmer may swim any number of sessions throughout the year given their own personal commitments.
Waverunners Swim Club/Delphinus Swim Club
Founded in 2002, WaveRunners provides swimming opportunities for elementary and middle school children in the Greater Lansing area. The club consists of two programs: lessons and the competitive swim team. Those new to the club will be enrolled in the appropriate group based on their skill level. Swimmers will learn all 4 competitive swim strokes, turns, and dives. As swimmers progress in their lessons, they may be able to participate in upcoming meets. WaveRunners emphasizes character building qualities including teamwork, individual improvement and goal setting. Parents are an important part of our club and opportunities abound to be an active part of your child's swim experience.
Spartan Swim Club
Do I have to be a good swimmer to join the team?
All you need to be able to do is swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. (This is the length of most pools.)
Do I have to try out?
No. We hold swimmer evaluations to help us place swimmers into appropriate groups. We will have these at the beginning of each session or by appointment.
What if I am involved in other sports?
Our swimmers participate in many non-aquatic activities. Our practices are offered six days per week to allow for more opportunities to participate.
Are meets held every weekend?
No. Additionally, you can work with your coach to determine which meets are best for you to swim.
Is there a lot of travel involved?
Most of our meets are within an hour radius of Lansing, although we do offer the opportunity for travel trips to other areas.
Can I join anytime?
Yes, you may join the team any time throughout the year.
What is the cost?
The cost is based on the group your swimmer is placed in. Payment are flexible and able to be spread throughout the year. The SSC fee schedule is very competitive and affordable, and scholarships are discreetly available to families with financial hardship.
Who does the coaching and what are their certifications?
We have a staff of professional, experienced coaches who love what they do. There is always a coach on deck who is certified through USA Swimming and required to maintain CPR, Coaches Safety and First Aid. Additionally, coaches are required to pass a background check and must pass a test of basic coaching principles. To meet our current coaches, check out our Coaches page
