Christian Homeschool Educators' Support System
Christian Homeschool Educators' Support System - Christian Homeschool Educators' Support System - CHESS' purpose is to support, encourage, and equip mid-Michigan home educators, by offering information,
opportunities, activities, resources, and relationships with other Christian home educating families. Membership requirements include an annual membership fee and agreement with a basic statement of faith in order to participate in some activities. Many of CHESS' activities are open to any interested home educators, however they specifically minister to Christian home educating families willing to look beyond denominational differences and focus instead on
what we have in common: our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. ("Different Homes, Different Schools... One Lord.") Everything CHESS offers is based on our four core values: Christ-Centered, Community, Cooperation, and Continuation.
CHESS is organized into seven areas:
ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT (Friday Enrichment Day Co-Ops, Thursday Academic Co-ops, Quizbowl Team, annual
Standardized Testing, Mid-Michigan Homeschool Graduation),
COMMUNICATIONS (Website, Email updates, Newsletter, Membership Directory, annual CHESS Open House),
COMMUNITY SERVICE/PUBLIC POLICY (Generation Joshua Civics Club, Legislative Action, Community Service
Opportunities),
ENCOURAGEMENT (Monthly Mom's Night Out, Mothers of Teens group, Special Needs-Special Blessings group, Homeschool Dads group, 'You can homeschool!' seminars, annual Time Apart Ladies Retreat, 'Manna' Ministry,
Prayer Ministry),
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (Contests: GeoBee, Spelling Bee, Speech Meet, & Science Fair, Field trips, Theater tickets, Creation Science Camp, Summer Playtime in the Park),

Lansing Area Catholic Homeschoolers
Lansing Area Catholic Homeschoolers - Lansing-Area Catholic Homeschoolers or commonly known as Celebrating Home Under Rome - Catholic Homeschooling (CHURCH) group. Our purpose is to support Lansing area homeschoolers, especially in the area of raising children in a faith-filled environment. No regular organizational meetings. Services offered include lots of clubs and activities including drama, debate, Kids 4 Jesus, Socrate's Cafe, etc. Back-to-School and Graduation Mass and Potluck each year.
Teenworks and Kidworks (Grand Ledge)
Teenworks provides a wide variety of classes and tutors for K-12 (Kidworks, Midworks, Junior Teenworks and Senior Teenworks) and recently has expanded to Collegeworks (accelerated distance learning) and On-line classes.
Teenworks was started in the early 1980′s by Jeff and Wanda Burdick. It has grown into a multi-faceted organization that assists home educating families by providing qualified, Godly tutors who reinforce Biblical character in their
tutoring, training and testing.
In addition to academic classes, Teenworks provides services such as seminars, achievement testing and ACT preparation, debate, drama and several social events that make for a well rounded student.
