Inclusive Groups
The following groups are open to all homeschoolers and represent a diversity of educational philosophies, child demographics, and family circumstances. Members are free to share information and resources with others which may span the breadth of these differences. (Note that there is a great deal of overlap in the membership among the online groups.)
LANSING HOMESCHOOLERS -- ALL AGES (FREE)
This is a group of homeschoolers from Mid-Michigan that started in 2001 and reaches the greater Lansing Michigan area. Our group is active in local homeschooling activities such as Impression 5, Abrahm's Planetarium, monthly bowling/laser tag, and Foster Community Center Homeschool Tuesdays. We have field trips and holiday parties as well as weekly park days in good weather. In May we have a curriculum browse, where families bring curriculum for others to look at or to sell. In September, we host a "Not back to school" carnival. Anyone is allowed to set up a field trip. Special needs are welcomed with open arms.
Our Facebook page is a place for you to share ideas, links, curriculum and personal homeschooling experiences. Posting of field trips throughout MI is encouraged. As this is an all inclusive list there will be no slamming or unpleasantries permitted. Those who do not use Facebook can reach us via our YahooGroup page, although most information sharing occurs on our Facebook page.

Homeschool Days at Foster Community Center
(FREE to join group. Fees apply for classes)
Homeschool Days at Foster is a program run by homeschooling parents and other teachers through Lansing Parks and Rec. We meet weekly or biweekly on Tuesdays for three terms a year. These are enrichment classes and are most often taught by parent-teachers and are offered based on teacher interests and availability. Classes are geared toward different age groups from pre-K to high school and vary from term to term. There is no specific programming to cover all age groups at all times of the day. Students and parents are encouraged to offer suggestions for future courses!
This is not a drop-off program and parents are expected to remain present when their children are not in classes unless other arrangements have been made for another parent to be responsible for your child. There is a community room where parents can join with other parents for conversation and where siblings and students can play when they are not in class. A small kitchen and microwave are available and families often bring lunch to eat during the mid-day break between classes.
The website lists current classes and information about how to sign up. There is also a Facebook group for instructors, parents, and students to communicate with each other about the Homeschool classes at Foster. We ask that topics here be limited to discussions related to past and present classes.

Eaton County Homeschool Families (FREE)
Formed on Facebook in 2012, this group is for homeschooling families of any belief system or background to unite for play dates, coops, parties, advice and eventually a high school prom.
This group is built on a nonreligious foundation; however, anyone is welcome! Once this group grows and becomes organized, we will start scheduling activities and field trips.
This group is not run by one single individual, my wish in establishing this group is that everyone feel they have equal opportunity to contribute in any way as long as it is related to home education and uniting parents and children.
The name suggests only where many activities will take place, not that you must live in Eaton County to join!
